MSHA 30 CFR Part 46 requires that each mine operator and mine contractor designate at least one competent person to effectively conduct training or determine training has been effective. Competent persons must have the appropriate knowledge, experience or training.
MSHA 30 CFR Part 46 Regulations for Annual Refresher Training require that each experienced miner receive at least 8 hours of annual refresher training on an annual basis. Contractors meeting the definition of a miner are subject to this requirement.
MSHA 30 CFR Part 46 requires that new miners must receive four hours of introductory training before they can enter a mine to work and then a Review of First Aid and Respiratory Training within 60 days. The balance of the required total of 24 hours must be completed within 90 days.
